Parents are also busier than ever, with increased stresses that make parenting even more challenging. The Confident Parenting seminar is based on research by Dr Jenny Brown, aims to help parents recover their confidence and consider how they can be the best resource for building their children’s resilience.

Michelle Varcoe is an Accredited Mental Health Social Worker who has worked in the field of Child and Adolescent Mental Health across both the public and private sectors. She is particularly aware of the unique role that parents/carers play in the support of a young person, but also the unique anxieties and concerns that are inherent in the demanding role of parenting. Alongside a public health role, Michelle currently works at the Family Systems Practice in the Parent Hope Clinic which specialises in supporting parents who are worried about a child of any age. Michelle is also a mother to 2 children and understands firsthand the unique challenges parents can be up against as they seek to raise resilient children. Michelle also attends Grace City Church, Waterloo and has two young boys.

To help make it possible for parents to attend, we’re offering childcare/children’s programs for ages 0-18 on site at $10 per child. Please register promptly so we can plan for everyone.

This presentation is relevant to parents with children of all ages. You don’t have to be a Christian or member of Vine Church to come along. The day is open to parents outside our church community. While the Bible will inform parts of the sessions, the focus will be on practical skills anyone could implement to strengthen their parenting.
