Extravagant: an overview from James Stinson on Vimeo.

And the son said to him, ‘Father, I have sinned against heaven and before you. I am no longer worthy to be called your son.’  But the father said to his servants, ‘Bring quickly the best robe, and put it on him, and put a ring on his hand, and shoes on his feet.  And bring the fattened calf and kill it, and let us eat and celebrate. For this my son was dead, and is alive again; he was lost, and is found.’ And they began to celebrate.

– Luke 15:21-24

One reason we live as though God is irrelevant is because our image of him is dull and grey. And yet when Jesus teaches about God it’s full of colour and drama. In our new series 'Extravagant' we will be exploring Luke 15 where Jesus tells three parables that get to the heart of the Gospel. Below you will find helpful resources for leading others including bible study notes, sermon links, helpful articles, and more.

Discussion Guides:

Below you will find links to 7 studies that will aid you in preparing time in God's word during the series. They are guides to help you prepare, not studies to use. They follow Timothy Keller's book 'Prodigal God', which will be made available at the Vine Church bookstall. We recommend that each person in your Community Group either purchase a copy of this book that they can read before your time together or listen to the sermons in the link below by Timothy Keller. Each Sunday there will be a blog posted providing 5 quick tips to leading your group for that week which we hope you find helpful.
