‘Having a coffee doesn’t mean marriage’
Posted: 15 July 2012 / Romans 12:1-3, 9-13
This afternoon Toby gave the second talk in the series A Touchy Subject; "Love & the Dating Game: Flexting, Flirting & Falling in Love". Looking at Romans 12:1-3, 9-13 he spoke about trusting God with all aspects of our lives which includes our relationships. We should think of our relationships with the opposite sex in light of God's mercy and not our own desires or what feels best. We also looked at the dynamics of relationships within the church and treating each other as brothers and sisters in Christ.
"Having a coffee doesn't mean marriage"–our church culture should encourage healthy friendships between genders. Those who are single should be cared for and not need a relationship to feel loved and those who desire marriage should be able to get to know others without pressure.
"Initmacy is the reward of commitment"–Toby also reminded us that when dating sometimes couples can over commit emotionally or get trapped physically, dating or engaged, you're not married until your wedding day.
Join us for the third talk Sex on a desert island – Singleness, solo-sex and sexual brokenness, Sunday, 22 July at 4pm.
