Mentoring Young People in Crisis

Posted: 06 December 2013

Hello interested mentors!

As most of you know we had an information session for the mentoring program last week. Many of you contacted me saying you are interested, but not able to make that night, so we are running another information session in a few weeks. This will be the last chance to come and find out about the program and register your interest to be a mentor next year. Some of you have also told me that you want to pass this info directly to you community groups, so please feel free to forward this email on to whoever you think might be interested.

The information session will be held on Wednesday 18th December 6:30-7:30pm at Vincentian House (361 Crown Street, Surry Hills – entrance opposite Adina Hotel on Fitzroy Street).

The session will introduce you to what we are seeking for a mentor and help you figure out if this is the right place for you to volunteer.

Please RSVP to this session by contacting me by email. Also, if you or anyone who is interested in this program has questions, feel free to contact me and have a chat.

A little bit of background…

Vincentian House is a crisis accommodation service for single women and families who are experiencing homelessness and severe financial hardship. All of the children and young people that come through our doors have had their lives disrupted by losing their home. The reasons for this are many and varied, but regardless of their story, they all deserve the right to feel safe and secure and have healthy relationships.

The mentoring program aims to give the children and young people a stable relationship with someone they can have fun with, talk to and forget about the struggles of life with.

This could be you!!

Thank you for your interest. I look forward to hearing from you soon.
