Our Explore Events are for anyone who wants to investigate Christianity informally with a group of other people. Whether you have previous experience of church, christians and the Bible, or none at all, this is for you. Everyone is welcome – from the most sympathetic believer to the convinced atheist. We will respect your background, culture and beliefs. Tell us as little or as much about yourself as you feel comfortable.

A meal is usually provided at the start of the evening (typically 7pm), so don’t worry if you have to come straight from work. It is  normally run in several groups of six to nine people around a table, and after briefly discussing the material from the week before, there is a talk or video on the theme for that week. Then there is discussion and question time from any of the content. This is sometimes done as a big group or in smaller groups. The evening ends at 9pm. Of course, if you’d like, you’re welcome to stick around a bit longer to discuss any further ideas you have. And you can ask any question you want, at any time during the night.

Each term we have a special Launch Night and it’s a great place to begin. It will give you a clear sense of what the evenings are like and what we’ll be exploring. But each evening works as a standalone too, so if you miss a week, even the launch night, you can easily jump back in. That said, we do recommend coming for a full term (around 6–8 weeks). It gives you enough time to explore the core ideas of Christianity, wrestle with the big questions, and form your own view.

Explore Events run consistently throughout the year.

We regularly use course material from Life with Jesus, Alpha, Christianity Explored, and Discover. Each course typically runs for around 6–8 weeks.

We run these back-to-back across the year, which means you can turn up on almost any Tuesday night and there will be an engaging, thoughtful evening ready for you to explore the claims of Christianity.

You’re welcome to come for one night, a few weeks, or a full term. If you’re serious about exploring, we recommend giving it 6–8 weeks — that gives enough time to engage the core ideas and work through your questions without feeling rushed.

We hope not. It’s not a church service, but we do look at the bible. There’s no praying or reading out aloud, singing, or chanting. 

Our hope is that each evening is more of a warm conversation between friends. Each evening includes a more formal part with a talk (or video) designed to explain an aspect of Christian belief and to stimulate discussion. Hopefully you’ll find it challenging and helpful. The group leaders will facilitate discussion and try to answer questions.
