Some FAQs about Youth:
Vine Youth is a welcoming community for teenagers to explore faith, build friendships, and have fun. Whether your teen has grown up in church or is just curious about Jesus, or just coming along with a friend, they’ll find a space where they belong.
We gather on Sundays and Fridays for engaging discussions, Bible teaching, and exciting activities.
We’re excited for all that’s happening at Vine Youth! Whether your teen is looking for a place to belong, ask questions, or grow in their faith, we can’t wait to welcome them.
We want Vine Youth to be a safe and welcoming space for all youth, whether they’re committed Christians or just figuring things out. We don’t pressure anyone to believe, but we want to be a place where teens can explore ideas, ask questions, and look at the Bible for answers.
Many of our Vine Youth bring friends along, and we love welcoming new people. No prior church experience is needed—just a willingness to come along and have a great time.
Friday nights are all about fun, connection, and exploring life’s big questions. There’ll be games, engaging discussions about faith, and plenty of time to hang out with friends. About once a term, we’ll have a special social event like bowling, a water fight, a bake-off, or something else fun!
Junior Youth (Years 7-9)
During the 9.15am service, junior youth meets for small group Bible discussions. Teenagers start in the main service with their families before heading out partway through to join their leaders, Mitch Luton and Jas Smith. This is a space to dive deeper into God’s Word and ask questions in a relaxed setting.
Senior Youth (Years 10-12)
There’s nothing formal for senior youth during the 4.30pm service, but we encourage them to attend the main gathering and be part of the church community. Afterward, they can hang out with Connor, Rachel, Evie, and Dan, and we often go out together (like grabbing YoChi) to connect and build friendships.
Vine Church is located on the corner of Flinders and Albion Streets, Surry Hills.
Our address is: 200 Albion Street, Surry Hills
We don’t have a carpark onsite at Vine Church, and while Friday Nights can be tricky to find a parking spot in Surry Hills, on Sundays we find there is usually lots of street parking available. An option for safe and easy parking is St Margaret’s Interpark (near Woolworths on Bourke St).
We want to keep both parents and teenagers in the loop! Here’s how we communicate:
Weekly emails to keep parents and youth informed.
WhatsApp groups for Junior Boys, Junior Girls, Senior Boys, and Senior Girls.
All communication follows our Social Contact Policy for safe and appropriate interactions.
If you’d like your teenager to stay in the loop, please share their email and mobile number in their first visit rego form.
While on Friday Nights we’re all in together as one big group of highschoolers, on Sundays we gather in year groups.
We understand that year groups don’t always reflect where teens are at spiritually or socially. If you feel your Year 10 teen would benefit from joining the Sunday morning Bible study or your Year 9 teen would prefer to attend the Sunday 4.30pm service, please let us know so we can ensure they’re well cared for. We want every teen to feel comfortable and supported as they explore faith and build community
We get that every family has different rhythms, and you might prefer to attend church as a whole family. While Years 7-9 meet during the 9.15am service and Years 10-12 attend the 4.30pm service, we’re happy to chat about what works best for your family to include your year 9 teen in at 4.30pm or year 10 teen in at 9.15am, if this will help you to come to church—we want to support your family in growing together.
