In the Old Testament, God’s people were encouraged to give a tithe (10%) of their income back to him. By the time we reach the New Testament, a new principle is introduced-sacrificial generosity. Sacrificial generosity replaces the Old Testament principle of tithing. So, rather than being commanded to give10%, Christians are now called to show generosity in response to God’s grace shown to us in Jesus Christ. Even though the New Testament does not lay upon us the old law of 10%, it would seem rather inconsistent with the gospel of grace for us to conclude that we should give any less than 10%. Paradoxically, grace actually lifts the bar on generosity rather than lowering it. If you want to know what generosity looks like, why not try starting with a tithe and see if you can build up from there? Let the tithe be your springboard for generosity.

Donating to the charitable activities of Vine Church is a great way to contribute to the gospel, whilst also boosting your tax return. A tax deductible gift or donation will reduce your taxable income, resulting in a higher refund on tax paid throughout the year or a reduced ATO debt when you complete your tax return. 

Vine Church has the status of a deductible gift recipient (DGR) for our Foundation Activities: Scholarships, Care fund, Connect Building Renewal and Bread of Life. 

You can also give to the Vine Church Foundation General Fund, which enables us to distribute your gift to the areas of greatest need across these funds each year.

You don’t need to use a credit or debit card to give via Church Centre. You can set up Bank Transfer in your Planning Centre Online account, which will save on processing fees.

Yes! You can give via direct deposit using your own bank (details below), or set it up through Church Centre. If you use direct deposit through Church Centre, your giving will be recorded automatically, making it easy to keep track of your gifts. 

In May 2025 we changed banks and have since updated our account details. The previous account is still active for a short time, so there’s no need to worry if you’ve given to the old account recently. If you call Vine home, we encourage you to consider regular, sacrificial giving to support the ongoing ministry of your church family. This is the primary way we fund the ministries that help people know Jesus and grow as his disciples.

Many members also choose to give towards the work of our Mission Partners. Please note that general congregational giving and gifts to Mission Partners are not tax-deductible.

The Vine Church Foundation provides an additional opportunity to support gospel ministry through tax-deductible giving. We encourage you to view Foundation giving as a complement to, rather than a replacement for, regular congregational giving. For some, the tax deductibility of Foundation gifts or workplace donation-matching programs may make it possible to give even more towards gospel ministry than they otherwise could.

1. Heritage Building Conservation Appeal — Tax Deductible

Donations marked “Heritage Building Conservation Appeal (Tax Deductible)” support the restoration and conservation of our 1854 heritage-listed church building.

Donations are made to the National Trust of Australia (NSW) (ABN 82 491 958 802), which conducts the Appeal for this purpose. Donations to the National Trust of Australia (NSW) are allowable as deductions for tax purposes.

The Vine Foundation Fund can receive funds to support works, repairs and maintenance carried out on Church House and Church Hall.

All these funds help us care for and maintain the buildings and facilities that support the ministry and life of our church.
